Noones media connect is an interactive meetup with key web3 media platforms in Africa aimed at showcasing what Noones is building. The Media connect session led by Frisco d’Anconia, featured Ray Youssef and Nnamdi.
Ray Youssef the founder of Noones began the session by sharing his vision and advocating for African unity. His main insights are that more regulation is not going to solve African problems. Overregulation stops commerce and creates poverty and makes the cycle worse.
What ails Trade in Africa?
- What we need are a decentralized platforms, educated population
- Education –enabling people to understand key aspects such as 2 factor authentication, keeping your own money safe
- We can’t trade with each other; make it easier to trade with each other. This is economic apartheid; the invisible barrier that creates hindrances that prohibit trade among different people. This is attributed to high costs and complicated processes.
- We don’t help each other; there are so many entrepreneurs in Africa but people don’t want to partner with each other to build great stuff. A rising tide raises all ships.
Ray envisages Noones media Connect as a about positive, inspiring environment that enables people to help each other. Small teams of inspiring builders that spread that will bring rapid change all over Africa.

Questions from media attendees
- How will Noones support African entrepreneurs?– enable pan-African trade through blockchain via P2P trading. Noones will also enable small businesses to get capital/loans/funding via gift cards. Enable small businesses to create and issue own gift cards. Offer users gift cards that are redeemable after a certain point in time. These could be used as small loans/credit under a secure and transparent blockchain.
- How about education initiatives? : Noones academy. Young people that have energy but don’t have jobs. Currently the wave is tap to earn. Not meaningful work. Tokens remains best way to align incentives. The noones tokens will be designed to get half a billion Africans unemployed doing work that will translate into money.
- How will noones go around regulation: The company is open to any regulation from any jurisdiction. Regulation has to be reasonable. For example asking for all data from users is not reasonable. Noones will never sell user information in exchange for license. Regulation in most cases is not meant to help but to stifle new business innovations.
The session ended by the team promising to be doing more Media connect from time to time.
